The first record of our wonderful Bridgeland house comes from the October 1911 Fire Insurance Urban Maps. They show that this was one of the first three houses on this side of the block and that the house was still a 1 ½ story building with wooden siding and a shed out back. The lot for this house originally included the houses that now sit on either side. The current lot has been this size at least since 1975.
The 1913 Henderson’s Directory mentions that Alex Smith, a builder, was the owner and that this was a new building. He was also likely the first owner and possibly the builder as well (although I have no data to prove that☺) Over the next 100 years, the house had at least 8 owners.
