333 38 Avenue Southwest, Calgary

Year of Construction: 1911

Walter Floyd McNeill, “Gentleman”, built this house in 1911. Renovations to the front, extending the living room, and additions at the back, a two car garage and adjoining sun room, were made around 1930.
Walter s uncle, Hobart William McNeill, and Walter’s father, Wilbur A. McNeill, were important figures in Canmore’s history as they took a struggling coal mine on the verge of economic collapse and turned it into a viable operation. Their company eventually became the Canmore Coal Co.
